Republicans accused Democrats of encouraging civil unrest and street violence and praised US President Donald Trump on Wednesday as a strong supporter of law enforcement amid protests over the police shooting of a Black man in Wisconsin.
Lezmond Mitchell, 38, was put to death via lethal injection in the evening at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, 19 years after he was convicted of killing a young girl and her grandmother. "Justice finally has been served," said the US Justice Department spokeswoman, Kerri Kupec, in a statement.
Training her gun at the Trump Administration on the matter, the Indian-origin Senator said, "That nuclear deal, as we all know, blocked Iran's pathways to a nuclear weapon and it was working, as was verified by international inspectors and the US intelligence community. But Donald Trump withdrew from it...promising a better deal and a cowed Iran, but instead Iran is revving up its nuclear activity and becoming more provocative."
Laura strengthened Wednesday into a menacing Category 4 hurricane, raising fears of a 20-foot storm surge that forecasters said would be unsurvivable'' and capable of sinking entire communities. Ocean water topped by white-capped waves began rising ominously as the monster neared land.
