Arkansas death row inmate dies in prison of unknown causes

Latavious Johnson, an Arkansas death row inmate in his 40s, died at the Varner SuperMax prison on Friday afternoon; the cause of death remains unknown. Johnson was serving a life sentence for the murder of his father and a death sentence for fatally stabbing prison guard Barbara Ester in 2012.
